Paul Wright - Managing Director
Director License No.16277

Paul joined the family’s funeral business in 1983. As a graduate of Kamloops Senior Secondary (1972) and the University of British Columbia (1978 B. Comm), Paul completed his funeral apprenticeship training at B.C.I.T. in 1986. He is a Past President of the Funeral Service Association of British Columbia and the Funeral Service Association of Canada. He also served as chairperson of the University College of the Cariboo Foundation 1997 – 2000. His interests include skiing, squash, travelling and reading. Paul and his wife Robyn have three children Alison, Nicola and Lewis.

Sandra Wright Irvine - Administration Manager
Director License No. 16266

Sandra was born in Vancouver, moved to Kamloops with her family in 1961 and graduated from Kamloops Senior Secondary in 1975. She began her career in funeral service in 1977, joining her father George Wright at Schoening Funeral Service and became a licensed funeral director. In 1978, she married Bruce Irvine and they have two children, Brent and Heather. Sandra has done volunteer work for the Kamloops Hospice Society, was a team manager with Kamloops Minor Hockey and is currently serving as president for the Funeral Service Association of British Columbia. Her interests include volleyball, spending time with her family and enjoying their property at Shuswap Lake.

Joanne Burnell - Admin. Asst/Funeral Director

In 1991, Joanne, her husband Derek and their two children, moved to Kamloops. Deciding to further her education, she attended the University College of the Cariboo, receiving an Accounting Diploma in 1992. At that time she became employed in the funeral profession, receiving her Funeral Director License in 1995. Joanne has been employed at Schoening Funeral Service since August, 2000. Currently she is involved with the Kamloops Blazers, serving as President of the Booster Club. Her hobbies include reading, gardening, camping and golf.

Tim Cook - Funeral Director/Embalmer
Director License No.  16261

Tim was born in Ogema, Saskatchewan.  He came to Kamloops with his family in 1970. While attending school, he began his association with Schoening’s doing maintenance duties.  After high school, Tim began a fourteen year career with C.N. Rail in the Signal and Communication Department.  He returned to Schoening’s in 1994 to begin his professional career in Funeral Service.  Tim has been a Licensed Funeral Director since 1998.

Tim enjoys all outdoor activities and spending time with his daughter and family

Steve Mackenzie - Funeral Assistant

Steve was born in Vancouver, moving to Kamloops with his family in 1968. He graduated from North Kamloops Senior Secondary School, followed by two years at the University College of the Cariboo. Steve has been a member of the Schoening team since February of 2003, assisting the directors as required. He is also in charge of all vehicle and building maintenance. His hobbies include disc golf, gardening, fly tying and camping. He is a member of the Kamloops Disc Golf Club and works continuously to promote the club and the sport. His involvement greatly assists the club to support other community organizations including the Children's Sports Dream Fund and the Kamloops Food Bank.

Tom Mitchell - Funeral Director/Embalmer

Tom started his funeral career in 1986, when he joined Schoening’s as an apprentice. He completed his funeral apprenticeship training at B.C.I.T. in 1988. From 1991 to 1995, Tom pursued a career in the golf profession, obtaining his Canadian Professional Golfers Association designation. In the spring of 1995, he returned to Schoening’s to continue his career in the funeral profession. His hobbies include gardening, golf and camping with his wife, Heather and their two sons.

Glen Peter - Funeral Director/Embalmer
Director License No.  16270

Glen was born and raised in Estevan, Saskatchewan. His vocation in funeral service began early. Upon graduation from high school, Glen entered funeral service, registering in the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship Program. In 1974, when a position for director became available at Schoening’s, Glen and his family came to Kamloops. Soon after his arrival, Glen joined the Kamloops Central Lions Club, an active membership he enjoyed for some twenty-two years. He and his wife Janet have four children and nine grandchildren. Together, the Peters’ enjoy camping and travelling.

Shirley McCaffrey - Certified Preplanning Consultant

Shirley is a Certified Preplanning Consultant.  She has been an integral part of the Schoening team since 2003.  As a certified consultant, Shirley is fully qualified to assist families or individuals wishing to discuss their service wishes in advance of need
Shirley is very involved in the community.  She is an advocate for the Arthritis Society in Kamloops and was awarded the “Golden Circle of Excellence” by the Society.  In 2003 she was honoured as the “ Y Woman Of Distinction.”
She and her husband Gary have two children and two grandchildren.
