HISTORY
Proudly serving Kamloops and the surrounding area since 1888, Schoening Funeral Service continues to meet the evolving needs of today’s families through caring expertise and innovative ideas that provide more than you might expect from a funeral home.  From it’s beginnings back in 1888, Schoening’s has always been a family owned business.  The latest chapter in it’s history began in 1961 when George Wright purchased the firm from Don Schoening.  Over time, George’s children took an interest in serving the community.  His daughter Sandra (Irvine) joined the firm in 1977 as did his son Paul in 1984.  George passed away in 2002, leaving as part of his legacy one of the largest family owned funeral establishments in the southern interior of British Columbia.  Today, Paul serves in the position of  Managing Director, while Sandra serves as the Administrative Manager.

OUR COMMUNITY:
One of the many legacies left to the firm by George Wright is the belief that if you take care of your community, your community will take care of you.  His words were “Always be prepared to give something back”  To this end, Schoening’s  is proud to support the Royal Inland Hospital with gifts totaling over $100,000.00.  We at Schoening’s feel that that Royal Inland Hospital serves the entire community and deserves our support on behalf of the community.
Paul Wright assists in the training of hospice and palliative care workers.
Paul has also been involved with the University College of the Cariboo (Now Thompson Rivers University).  He served as a Foundation Board Member for ten  years and Board Chairman for four years.
Paul and Sandra are involved in funeral service organizations, both provincially and nationally. Paul served as president of the Funeral Service Association Of British Columbia and the Funeral Service Association Of Canada.  Sandra has held several positions on the provincial association board and is presently serving as President-Elect.
